Position Summary

Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications for the position of Head Men's Ice Hockey Coach. This full-time, 12-month administrative position provides leadership for all aspects of the University's NCAA Division III men's ice hockey program, including student-athlete development, competitive success, recruitment, program administration, and strategic planning. Consistent with Wentworth's strategic priorities of Inclusive Excellence, Transformative Student Experience, and High-Value Learning, the Head Coach creates an environment where students are challenged academically, athletically, and personally while representing Wentworth with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the University's mission and values.

The Head Coach serves as an educator, mentor, and leader who develops a culture of accountability, belonging, teamwork, competitive excellence, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the program while developing student-athletes, hiring, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating assistant coaches, collaborating with colleagues across the University, responsibly stewarding program resources, and strengthening relationships with alumni, supporters, and external partners in support of the long-term success of Wentworth Men's Ice Hockey.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Program Leadership & Administration

  • The Head Coach provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for all aspects of the NCAA Division III men's ice hockey program, establishing competitive goals, setting program expectations, and cultivating a positive, accountable, and student-centered team culture.

  • The Head Coach oversees the day-to-day operations of the program, including:

  • The Head Coach manages the program budget, supports fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives, and fulfills all fiscal and administrative responsibilities in a timely and responsible manner.

  • The Head Coach is responsible for recruiting, supervising, and mentoring a part-time assistant coaching staff by providing ongoing mentorship, regular feedback, and opportunities for professional development.

  • Because Wentworth utilizes external athletic facilities for the Men’s Ice Hockey Program, the Head Coach develops and maintains productive relationships with FMC Ice Sports at the Allied Veterans Rink in Everett and other facility partners to ensure effective scheduling and operations.
