Description
The Head Coach of Men’s Lacrosse is directly responsible for the supervision of assistant coaches, recruitment and retention of student athletes, and team management.
Essential Duties
Year-long recruiting of student-athletes and full management of the Men’s Lacrosse program in accordance with NAIA, the Appalachian Athletic Conference, the university, and department guidelines.
This individual will lead all aspects of the program, including but not limited to management of assistant coaches, game and practice plans, travel, budget, equipment maintenance, etc. This coach’s philosophy needs to include educating the whole student-athlete: spiritually, academically, and athletically.
The Head Coach is a representation of the department’s mission and vision, fully aligning with that of the University.
Maintains communications and regular contact with prospective student-athletes.
Organizing prospective student-athlete day and overnight visits and administering tours for all prospective student-athletes.
Year-long program management, monitoring the academic progress of student athletes, as well as working with off-season conditioning programs.
Responsible for practice and game preparation.
Scouting of opponents by attending games, viewing video, or obtaining other scouting reports.
Commitment to community engagement and fundraising activities.
Position requires travel during the week and weekends.
Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
3 years’ experience as a successful head/assistant collegiate or high school coach
A commitment to the student-athlete concept and a working knowledge of the NAIA and Appalachian Athletic Conference rules and regulations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Working knowledge of HUDL
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree
