Position Summary

The successful candidate will possess the ability to recruit, develop, coach and assist a university men’s and women’s bowling program within the standards of The University of Olivet.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 2 years of previous successful coaching and/or participation experience on the college or high school level
• Knowledge of USBC, and bowling techniques
• Ability to work effectively with all university personnel, students, and the community
• Evening and weekend hours essential
• Must be cleared to drive university vehicles

Position Responsibilities

1. Provides leadership and supervision in all aspects of the bowling program including, recruitment, retention, academic support, practice preparation, game day environment, alumnae development, fundraising, and community service
2. Direct the operations of The University of Olivet Bowling program within the standards of The University of Olivet.
3. Recruitment of student athletes who meet the Universities admission requirements. Meets annual recruitment goals as developed by the Director of Athletics.
4. Coordinates and outline a complete recruiting agenda to identify quality student athletes. This should include names of players, high school visits, coaching contacts, personal contacts, attendance at tournaments and competitions, telephone and email contacts and campus visits.
5. Ensures compliance with all University rules and regulations related to recruiting and academic monitoring for student-athletes.
6. Collaborates with the Sports Information Director for the positive promotion of the athletic department.
7. Ensures department and University regulations are understood by and complied with student athletes and coaching staff.
8. Works closely with the Athletics Department in any fundraising activities that will directly impact the program or the department in general.
9. Coordinates a minimum of one community outreach project for the promotion of individual and social responsibility.
10. Develops an annual operating budget and oversee the purchasing, distribution and collection of all equipment.
11. Works closely with Director of Athletics on long and short-term planning for the bowling program
12. Supervises and trains the coaching staff.
