The Head Coach directs all aspects of a successful NCAA Division III Track & Field program.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of all activities related to the Men’s and Women’s Track & Field program. These areas include, but are not limited to planning and supervising of practices, meets, management of budget, control of equipment and supplies, advisement of student-athletes, recruiting potential student-athletes, scouting opponents, and organization and implementation of program development activities.
Work with admissions and athletic recruiting coordinator to meet roster goals, and field a competitive team.
Oversee all game coaching and practice sessions with the aid of assistant coaches.
Design practices, and manage weekly mileage and meet preparation for all student-athletes.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of Hilbert College Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and practices.
Evaluate team and individual performances on a regular basis.
Abide by NCAA and SUNYAC rules and regulations.
Coordinate an effective in and out-of-season student-athlete training program.
Work closely with Head Cross Country coach on recruiting and student-athlete development.
Create plans for both indoor and outdoor Track & Field seasons.
Provide input on scheduling and monitor the team budget, implement two beneficial team fundraising projects.
Plan and manage yearly meet, hosted by Hilbert College.
Maintain accurate uniform and equipment inventories, project future supply needs.
Plan and closely supervise all team travel.
Serve as a positive role model for all student-athletes.
Develop and maintain good communication with team members; utilize effective motivational strategies.
Develop and implement demanding but fair equitable team policies and training rules.
Cultivate good rapport with other campus and athletic services.
Make hiring recommendations; train and orientate assistant coaches.
Job Requirements
Knowledge of NCAA and AMCC rules and regulations.
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to work independently as well as being able to supervise others.
Able to lift and carry heavy items (up to approximately 30 lbs).
Willingness to work nights and weekends.
Strong organizational skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Playing and coaching experience, preferably at the college level.
Bachelors degree preferred.
Valid driver license.
*This position may be full or part time depending on candidate.
Compensation : will be determined by either full-time or part-time status.
Full-time range: $45,000 - $51,000
Part-time range: $8,000 - $15,000 stipend
