Recruit and retain college rodeo student-athletes for the women’s and men’s rodeo team. Must maintain all eligibility standards as set by NIRA for competition in the Central Plains Rodeo Association and to be able to compete for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR).
Incumbent must possess a commitment and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of NWOSU and NIRA.

Essential Functions:
Recruit and retain college rodeo student-athletes for the women’s and men’s rodeo team. Must maintain all eligibility standards as set by NIRA for competition in the Central Plains Rodeo Association and to be able to compete for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR).
Incumbent must possess a commitment and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of NWOSU and NIRA.
Responsible for all documentation required of NWOSU and NIRA to ensure institutional control for student-athlete competition and their development.
Organizes and conducts practice sessions.
Organizes and runs the annual Northwestern rodeo (Fall semester) including securing sponsorships and meeting all of the requirements as set forth by the Central Plains Rodeo Association.
Submits orders for equipment and is responsible for inventory and issuance of equipment including the Northwestern College rodeo facility.
Recruits and retains a specific number of student-athletes that is required by the athletic director.
Organizes and monitors mandatory team study table.
Provides complete and accurate required information for all official visits.
Reviews NIRA rules with student-athletes when necessary and reinforces the importance of compliance.
Responsible for the actions of all assistant coaches and staff and the sport’s compliance with NIRA rules.
In cooperation with the Director of Athletics and Associate Athletic Director, monitors the scheduling process of rodeos, verifying that the schedule meets NIRA and Central Plains rodeo scheduling requirements.
Facilitates the provision of all information necessary to determine prospective student-athlete eligibility.
Annually declares and receives approval from the Director of Athletics and President for athletically related income.
Educates student-athletes of NIRA regulations regarding reporting of employment earnings.
Furnishes a roster of players for eligibility clarification.
Supervises conduct of athletes on trips and at rodeos.
Supervision and care for all college rodeo facilities.
Qualifications:
Thorough understanding of NIRA rules compliance.
Experience competing and coaching in the sport s/he coaches.
Must be certified in AED/CPR.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Able to remain calm in situations where emotions are strained.
Demonstrates effective public speaking skills.
Works well with various news media organizations.
