Colorado School of Mines Department of Athletics invites applications for the Head Softball Coach. Mines is a public research university devoted to engineering and applied science. Located along the front range of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Mines is just minutes away from Boulder and Denver offering a unique combination of mountain living coupled with large city amenities. With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, Golden is an ideal location to program year-round recreational activities. Mines is an NCAA Division II member and competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Head Coach is responsible for all phases of the Softball program including recruitment of prospective student-athletes, game preparation and strategy, supervision of assistant coaches, scheduling, attending meetings with alumni and other public relations events, organizing camps and clinics in support of Mines athletics, fund-raising, adherence to NCAA, RMAC and Mines rules and regulations and general administrative duties. The Head Coach will be evaluated based on the competitiveness of the program, overall student-athlete development by way of a meaningful educational experience for student-athletes as a mentor, educator and role model. In addition, the Head Coach will be responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals and mission of both the university and its intercollegiate athletics program.

Detailed responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain rapport and effective relationships with student-athletes and parents, ensuring goal alignment and overall health and well-being.
  • Actively contribute to the goals and success of all team members through collaboration, cooperation and accountability.
  • Maintain high ethical standards, legal responsibility, and confidentiality.
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of tactical and statistical data of opponent teams. Assist in designing game plans and strategies.
  • Facilitate coaches’ preparatory meetings and pivot during the game to optimize winning.
  • Exhibit sound judgment in advising and counseling student athletes about academics and athletics issues.
  • Assist in coordinating and overseeing campus visits by prospective athletes.
