Summary:
Directs, provides leadership, and oversees all coaching duties for an interscholastic Softball Program operating under NCAA Division I operating bylaws and regulations. Directs and coordinates all aspects of recruitment and training for athletic competition, and oversees the planning and fiscal management of program activities.

Examples of Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Organizes, prepares, and conducts individual and team practices, training and competition.
• Recruits student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations through scouting, attending tournaments, and home visits.
• Leads all aspects, areas and components of sports team (i.e. defense, offense, and/ or various individual positions).
• Coordinates all strategic aspects of the specific sports program.
• Represents Alabama A&M University softball to various institutional programs and externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the general public.
• Manages daily operations of the softball program.
• Oversees all aspects of the financial operation of the program.
• Conducts softball camps and clinics for the university and surrounding community.

• Contributes to the overall success of the athletics department by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics and/or their designee.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
Education: Bachelor's degree. A Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: At least three (3) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities.
