This is a full-time (12-month appointment) benefits eligible position. Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Coach responsibilities will include the management and oversight of all facets of the UMass Boston Men’s and Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country programs. In alignment with the department’s mission to be the top public Division IIII program in the nation, we are looking for a candidate to elevate all programs to excellence at the conference, regional, and national levels. This position will serve as the primary coach in their area/s of specialty and hire a full-time associate head coach to oversee a complementary specialty area. They will also hire additional part-time assistant coaches to ensure expertise in cross-country and all track and field events. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, administration, budget management, fundraising, alumni stewardship, recruitment of student-athletes who can contribute to building and maintaining a competitive team within the conference, region and nation, scheduling of competitions, meet oversight (for home meets) and management including hiring officials, team travel, weekly practice sessions, advising of students, and compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations. Additional responsibilities may include department-wide duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Three to five years coaching experience, preferably at the college or university level. A bachelor’s degree is required: a master’s degree is preferred. Proven experience in recruiting and student athlete retention. Administrative, interpersonal/communication skills and computer skills are essential. Appropriate certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED and Mental Health First Aid are required prior to the start of the teams’ regular season. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a background check.
