Mary Baldwin University (MBU) seeks a head coach for its NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball program. The head coach reports directly to the Director of Athletics.
Apply NowThis is a unique opportunity for an energetic, enthusiastic coach to re-build a program that qualified for conference playoffs four-straight years in the last decade. The coach will focus heavily in 2024-25 on recruiting new players for the 2025-26 season. The coach will also build relationships with the players and relevant supporters currently on campus, develop the schedule for the 2025-26 season, assist with department fundraising and alumni/ae relations efforts, etc.
Located in Staunton, VA, Mary Baldwin University offers students bachelor’s, master level, and doctoral programs on our residential campuses and online. MBU is a diverse entrepreneurial institution with a record of innovation aspiring to meet the evolving higher education needs of society.
The successful candidate will oversee all facets of MBU’s NCAA Division III women’s basketball program, including:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Collegiate basketball playing and/or coaching experience. Candidates must have strong organizational skills and a proven ability to recruit student-athletes that can compete on the collegiate level. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the athletic department and throughout the University community, possess strong oral and written communication skills and have and understanding and knowledge of and commitment to NCAA Division III rules. A valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under the University’s Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy. The successful candidate must pass all required background and reference checks.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree. Head coaching and recruiting experience in collegiate women’s basketball. Previous history of relationship-building and cultivation of former student-athletes, alumni and other program stakeholders.
