The Athletics Department is seeking a Head Coach: Women’s Rowing. This is a full-time (1.00
FTE
),12-month, professional faculty position.

The Head Coach directs all phases of the Women’s Rowing Program. Major responsibilities include but are not limited to: management of academic success, budgeting, recruiting, boat maintenance, equipment ordering, travel planning, teaching/coaching rowing skills, planning and execution of workouts, scheduling opponents, maintaining program integrity with respect to

rules and regulations, and participating in community and sport specific fund-raising efforts and public relations. This position may also be asked to participate in athletic department-wide functions.

COACHING
/
INSTRUCTION
Provides general leadership and training for a team of 50-80 college aged students.
Directs workouts and coordinates with Strength and Conditioning for appropriate dry land and skill set training.
Teaches and coaches specific rowing skills and strategies.
Provides a safe environment for workout and independently makes decisions regarding the nature of workouts based on the status of the welfare of the players.
Provides a balanced environment for students to pursue academic endeavors.
Provides leadership, supervision and direction for assigned staff.
Plans, assigns, and reviews work.
Establishes goals for each position and assesses performance through completion of evaluations.
Hires, trains, promotes employees.
Disciplines or effectively recommends discipline up to and including dismissal.
Addresses grievances, developing a framework for corrective actions as necessary.
Drives either a personal or university vehicle to perform essential functions of their role, such as recruitment or during team travel, which requires them to maintain a current, valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

BUDGETARY
OVERSIGHT
Proposes and maintains an annual budget.
Provides sound accounting and tracking principles and practices to keep up to date on current balances.
Delegates, as necessary, but maintains primary responsibility for all issuances of state funds.
Makes sound, independent purchasing decisions based on budget analysis.
Plans travel accordingly and within the guidelines of the budget.

Maintains all rowing equipment. Prudently and independently purchases new equipment when needed and based on experiential analysis.
Maintains and operates all boating equipment in a safe and responsible manner.

FUNDRAISING
As directed by the Athletic Director, participates in
OSU
fundraising activities which will include appearances and public speaking.
Bachelor’s degree in field of choice.
Five years of full-time experience as an Assistant Rowing Coach in an
NCAA
program.
Demonstrated familiarity with
NCAA
rules and regulations.
Experience providing leadership for a diverse group of employees and student athletes.
This position will often be required to lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Three years of full-time experience as a Head Rowing Coach.
Demonstrated success at the Division I level as an Assistant or Head Rowing Coach.
Able to communicate in both written and verbal form.
Must work some evenings and weekends.
Travel required.
Must work outdoors.
