The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Department of Athletics is seeking qualified candidates for the position Head Coach - Women's Volleyball. Seawolf Athletics is a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC), and competes in multiple National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) divisions. The Seawolf program features 13 teams competing at both the Division 1 and Division II levels.

As the Head Coach of the women's volleyball program, you will oversee all aspects of the Seawolf NCAA Division II women’s volleyball team. This includes ensuring the safety, health, wellness, and academic success of student-athletes while fostering a competitive and positive team environment. The Coach will also be responsible for maintaining compliance with NCAA, conference, and university regulations; recruiting student-athletes committed to both academic and athletic excellence; monitoring academic progress and eligibility; managing the program’s budget; supporting the department’s mission and policies; and promoting intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the university.

To thrive in this position, the Coach must have a proven track record of coaching success at the Division 1 or II level, or equivalent experience, and have a passion to serve student-athletes for their health, safety, and wellness.

To be successful in this role, the Coach must possess strong interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and a communication style that reflects well-developed emotional intelligence when working with colleagues in a professional setting. A thorough understanding of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and conference rules and regulations is essential. The Coach’s coaching philosophy should align with the mission, vision, and values of Seawolf Athletics and UAA. Building professional, collaborative relationships with student-athletes, administrators, faculty, staff, and the broader community is vital. Experience in fundraising to support the women’s volleyball program is also required. This role involves the supervision and mentoring of both staff and student-athletes.
