Oglethorpe University, Atlanta’s leading private liberal arts university, is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic professional to serve as the Head Women's Volleyball Coach. The Head Coach is accountable for all phases of growing a competitive Volleyball program, which competes in the Southern Athletic Association. Primary duties include coaching the team, managing the budget, overseeing game-day operations, including travel arrangements, and effectively recruiting student-athletes. This is a full-time position with an excellent benefits package, including employer-paid health insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan, tuition waivers, and more. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Head Coaches’ responsibilities include but are not limited to: knowing and abiding by all University, NCAA and Southern Athletic Association rules and regulations; coaching; recruiting; monitoring scholar-athlete academic progress; budgeting; fundraising; and scheduling. The successful candidate must be highly motivated and have a successful coaching record in a competitive volleyball program. The successful candidate must also provide positive leadership in all aspects of the volleyball program and must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with all internal and external patrons. Other job duties and responsibilities are to be determined by the Director of Athletics.
A bachelor’s degree is required, and a minimum of 3 years of collegiate-level coaching experience is preferred. A valid driver's license is also required.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A successful candidate should also be knowledgeable about and committed to the NCAA rules and regulations, Title IX, and SAA rules and regulations. Position may require the ability to drive a 15-passenger van (and maintain a safe driving record); ability to demonstrate appropriate technical skills during practice; ability to plan, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while working on multiple tasks; ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Some travel is required.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
This position requires work in a normal office environment as well as on the volleyball court; typically, running, bending, crouching, and stooping.; use of tools requiring high dexterity is required, as well as occasional lifting of up to 25lbs; use of office equipment, volleyball equipment, and an alternative work schedule is also required.
