Position Description & Details:

Bismarck State College is looking for a dynamic Head Cross Country/Track and Field Coach who can set the pace and lead our runners to victory. As the Head Cross Country/Track and Field Coach, you will sprint into action and guide our athletes to the finish line with excellence!

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include:

• Go the Distance: Support and assist the Director of Athletics with the athletic function of the college.
• Lead the Pack: Develop, manage, coordinate, recruit, and supervise the Men and Women’s Cross Country/Track and Field program.
• Stay on Track: Ensure compliance with Bismarck State College, State Board of Higher Education, North Dakota State, National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rules, and federal Title IX regulations as they relate to Athletics.
• Run the Numbers: Manage the team budget and assist the Director of Athletics in fundraising events.
• Meet Management: Coordinate operations for meets and ensure a top-notch fan experience at home meets.
• Scout the Talent: Recruit intercollegiate level student-athletes for the Men and Women’s Cross Country/Track and Field.
• Guide the Path: Support and coordinate student-athletes on enrollment procedures, academic programs, and financial aid.
• Keep on Course: Ensure all student-athletes are academically eligible, making progress towards degree completion, and utilizing the Learning Skills Center when needed.
• Master the Moves: Facilitate sports techniques, playing rules, strategies, and playing tactics.
• Champion Sportsmanship: Promote respect and appreciation for diversity towards athletics and the community.
• Analyze and Improve: Conduct post-season analysis, player development, and summer training plans.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

• Continuously – 66-100% - Stand, walk, sit, use hands dexterously, reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear.
• Frequently – 34-66% - Stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl.
• Occasionally – 1-33% - Lift to 50 pounds. Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 3 years coaching experience.
• Effective public and interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of a Men and Women’s Cross Country/Track and Field competition, rules, and strategies per NJCAA.
• Recruiting skills and ability to assess athletic talent.
• Leadership and motivational skills, and ability to serve as a positive role model.
• The ability to market the College and its athletic program to potential students and community.
• The ability to organize and implement fundraising projects.
• The ability to build and sustain successful intercollegiate athletic programs.
• The ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Preferred Qualifications:
