The Head Dance Coach is responsible for the comprehensive management and development of the university's dance team. This role includes oversight of all aspects of the dance program, from coaching and recruitment to fundraising and public relations. The Head Dance Coach will work closely with students, faculty, alumni, and the community, ensuring adherence to university, conference, and NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Coaching and Team Development:
Lead and manage team practices and competitions, focusing on skill development and performance enhancement.
Create and implement team routines that enhance fan engagement at home games.
Provide individualized coaching to address the physical and mental needs of each team member.

Develop and execute a recruitment strategy to attract and retain talented dancers.
Cultivate relationships with prospective student-athletes and their families.
Fundraising and Public Relations:
Take an active leadership role in fundraising efforts and public relations activities for the dance team and the athletics department.
Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including identifying potential donors and organizing fundraising events.
Oversee the team’s community service initiatives and schedule campus and community appearances.
Student-Athlete Welfare:
Support the student-athlete concept and demonstrate a strong commitment to the health, safety, and welfare of each team member.
Collaborate with faculty and administrative staff to ensure that students' academic requirements are met.
Conduct individual meetings with team members to discuss their progress and address any concerns.
Collaboration and Communication:
Maintain effective and positive communication with students, faculty, alumni, and the broader community.
Work cooperatively and responsibly with other departmental personnel to foster a supportive environment for the team.
Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing.
Work Schedule: Varies, part-time mostly weekends and evenings.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree, or a minimum of 5 years of coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level
Evidence of strong organizational and communication skills.
Previous coaching experience.
Evidence of a commitment to academic excellence.
The ability to interact effectively with students, colleagues, and the public.
Capable and willing to actively plan and participate in fund-raising, promotions, and other similar endeavors as they relate to the dance team and the entire Athletics Department.
