Barton College is seeking a Head Field Hockey Coach to launch our inaugural program and oversee all aspects of it. The 2024-25 academic year will be focused on recruiting qualified student-athletes and establishing the program, with competition to begin in fall 2025 as an associate member of the South Atlantic Conference. It is the primary responsibility of the head coach to foster a positive experience for student-athletes and to do so within the missions of Barton College, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Work Environment:
The work environment is variable depending on athletic event settings specific to the sport managed. Internal office work is also required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but occasionally high depending upon student population, event attendees and activities involved. The employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions and may be exposed to bodily fluids and blood borne pathogens.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a physically active role requiring the employee to have the ability to teach proper techniques to students and have the requisite skills needed for athletic participation. Therefore, the physical abilities required include: the ability to walk, run, jump, stretch, stand, sit, talk, hear, using hands for fine manipulation, to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. The employee may also have to climb stairs or ladders and specific vision requirements include the ability to see up close, distantly, adjust his/her focus and have adequate peripheral vision for the position.
