The coach develops, recruits, and administers a competitive Flag Football program consistent with the student-athlete philosophy of NCAA Division III athletics. Coach is expected to develop, coordinate and manage an active recruitment and retention program for Flag Football student athletes. Assist with department operations, game day management, outside group coordination for rentals and overall operation of the athletic department.
Duties and Responsibilites
Instruct, teach, and train student athletes in the rules and fundamentals of Flag Football and teamwork.
Develop, communicate, and execute game and practice plans for the team and for individual athletes; monitor playing and practice activities and scheduling of contests.
Guide and instruct athletes of health, nutrition, wellness, team concepts and safety.
Respond to and address academic concerns with student athletes; monitor academic policies and requirements, academic progress, full time enrollment and graduation rates.
Coordinate tutors for team roster; interface, integrate and coordinate with other academic support and compliance units for student athlete academic success.
Recruit prospective student athletes to maintain optimal roster sizes.
Enhance student athlete retention by establishing mentoring relationships and providing a positive, productive athletic and academic experience.
Hire, train, and supervise assistant Flag Football coaches.
Assist with fitness center operations, game day management, outside group coordination and overall operation of the athletic department.
Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field required.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience coaching required.
Solid knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
Experience developing educational programming related to nutrition, recreation, fitness, and healthy lifestyles.
Demonstrated effective leadership and coaching skills.
Strong customer focus with exceptional interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid required.
Valid driver’s license and completion of college driver safety program.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Visual and hearing ability to perform all required duties related to the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Able to independently travel and transport teams and equipment to other locations for contests and other activities.
Sufficient manual dexterity to operate technology and office equipment with or without reasonable accommodation.
Able to stand/sit continually to perform essential job functions for the entire workday, including ability to effectively instruct and train student athletes.
Able to work varied hours and a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as necessary and required.
Complexity
Able to balance time effectively and efficiently between team and student-athletes needing assistance. Must also work autonomously toward department priorities with the safety of student athletes as a priority.
