Head Football Athletic Trainer / Sports Medicine will serve as the primary trainer for the football program in the Sports Medicine area of Virginia Tech Athletics. Reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer. Responsible for administering and evaluating all facets of the football sports medicine program including the hiring and supervision of football athletic trainers and associated sports medicine staff. Will participate in research projects as necessary.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) at the master's level with significant experience.
National Athletic Trainers Association certification.
CPR/First Aid certification.
Supervisory experience.
Significant experience working in a NCAA Football Power 4 sports medicine program.
Well-established experience as an athletic trainer in sports medicine.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NCAA and conference regulations.

Instructor certification in CPR/First Aid.
Experience with intercollegiate drug testing; intercollegiate sports pharmacy; operation of Diagnostic Radiographic Systems (x-ray and flouroscopy); Knowledge of electronic medical records system, i.e. Sportsware or similar software.
Experience creating and giving educational presentations.
Experience with various hands-on treatment techniques (i.e. myofascial release, active release techniques, fascial distortion model, dry needling, blood flow restriction, Graston, etc.)
Experience with Evidence Based Medical Research.
