Job Description:

An experienced and dynamic Head Football Coach is sought to lead the football program as it joins the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in 2025. The Head Football Coach will be responsible for building and sustaining a strong, competitive program that upholds the highest standards of integrity, athletic excellence, and academic success. This role requires a leader with strong strategic vision, management expertise, and exceptional relational and communication skills to foster team cohesion, motivate student-athletes, and promote a positive image for the program. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to advancing Dean College Football within the MASCAC, enhancing the student-athlete experience, and achieving both competitive and academic excellence. The Head Football Coach is responsible for adhering to the policies, rules, and regulations of the NCAA, MASCAC, and Dean College.

Additionally, the Head Football Coach is accountable for managing all aspects of the coaching staff and support team to ensure a cohesive and effective program. This includes hiring, supervising, and providing guidance to assistant coaches, student interns, work-study students, and support staff. The Head Coach will establish clear roles, expectations, and development plans for each team member, fostering a collaborative environment that enhances player performance and program success. Regular communication and team-building efforts will be key, as well as aligning staff duties with the broader goals of the athletic department and ensuring adherence to Dean College, MASCAC, and NCAA policies.

This full-time, 12-month, exempt position.

Position responsibilities include:

• Manage the recruitment efforts for the football program by identifying a diverse pool of student-athletes who can excel academically and athletically, and who will contribute to the continuing success of the team and the College community at large.
• Create and implement a comprehensive strategy for elevating a successful football program, demonstrating excellence in recruiting, training, game preparation, coaching development, and student-athlete support.
• Responsible for the academic achievement, retention and graduation of each student-athlete on the roster.
• Provide supervision and mentorship to assistant coaches, ensuring alignment with the program's vision and goals.
• Direct the daily training and practice schedule.
• Responsible for planning all in-season practice sessions and home/away opponents, inclusive of travel arrangements.
• Establish a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, athletic excellence, and sportsmanship.
• Collaborate with athletic department staff and other university personnel to manage budgets, scheduling, and compliance with NCAA, MASCAC, and Dean College policies and regulations.
• Foster relationships with alumni, donors, the community, and friends to enhance all modes of support for the program, including financial.
• Participate in college, departmental staff, conference, and coach meetings.
• Other duties as assigned and required.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Previous collegiate Head Coach and/or collegiate Coordinator experience preferred.
• Five years of collegiate coaching experience required.
• Ability to recruit and retain quality football student-athletes.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences.
• Ability and willingness to support Dean College's mission and to collaborate effectively within a team environment within the Athletics & Recreation Department.
• Strong commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy.
• Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks in a professional and efficient manner.
• Travel is required for recruiting and attending games.
