The Head Football Coach
provides leadership and organization for all phases of the operation of the Football program at Roosevelt University in compliance with all institutional,
NCAA
and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (
GLIAC
) rules and regulations. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, recruiting of prospective students, planning and providing elite instruction and assessment at team practices and competitions, budget maintenance, equipment procurement, scheduling and travel, assistant coaching staff management and engaging with student-athletes to aid in their academic success, retention and eventual graduation from the University. Duties of this role require regular work from the University’s Chicago campus as well as the football program’s athletic facilities and offices located in suburban Arlington Heights, Ill. This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Vice President of Athletics and Student Success.

The salary range for this position is $100,000-$110,000

Bachelor’s Degree
3-5 years of experience as a coach, participant or related role
Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail
Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt’s core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors
A positive and professional demeanor is a must
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Basic office equipment (desktop computer, copier/ multi-function device, fax and telephone).
The Head Coach will work in multiple environments, indoors and outdoors, including areas for team practice, competition and recruiting, in addition to an office setting. The Head Coach’s schedule will include nights and weekends and travel with team for competitions, as well as for prospective student recruitment and other duties as assigned.

Program Management and Advancement:
Attend all monthly head coach and NCAA compliance meetings. Engage with other athletic coaches and staff to advance community atmosphere within the athletic department. Represent the program in external functions, including, but not limited to, alumni and fundraising events, Board of Trustee meetings, other institutional and community events as requested. Develop and manage the annual operating budget for the program over the course of the year following all institutional guides for purchasing and reimbursement. Manage staff of assistant coaches and graduate assistants, overseeing delegation and assessing successful completion of duties related to organizing team travel for daily practice and off-campus competitions, ordering, inventorying and distributing necessary equipment and uniforms. Ensure program is compliant with all NCAA and GLIAC policy guidelines. | | Percentage Of Time | 30 |

Oversee the academic progress of student-athletes within the program. Assist students with issues that can be barriers to retention and eventual graduation. Develop and manage calendar of competitions and training sessions to maximize potential for competitive success. Organize individual plans for each training/practice session and assess outcomes, communicating regularly with student-athletes, placing the individuals and the team in the best possible position for success. Student-Athlete Recruitment:
Build relationships with local, regional and national high school and junior college programs and coaches to help in identifying prospective student-athletes. Travel to evaluate in-person prospective student-athletes at various events. Facilitate campus visits for prospective students and develop on-going dialogue that leads to their eventual enrollment.
