SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Football Coach must be enthusiastic about the opportunity to bring back football to the University and provide strategic leadership for the future of the Football program while supporting the wider mission and goals of the University. The Coach is responsible for all aspects of coaching the team including recruiting, fitness training, practice, scheduling, and travel. The Coach will advocate for the importance of the football program within the campus community and among alumni, university friends, and the larger Kerrville and regional community. The Coach will serve as a role model of the high standards expected of our student-athletes. Furthermore, the Coach will have department and team fundraising responsibilities in conjunction with the Athletic Director, Coaching staff, and Development Office, as well public relations and media responsibilities to promote the University, Athletics, and the Football program. The successful candidate will have experience recruiting students and cultivating friends of the University to meet annual enrollment, retention, and fundraising goals. The successful candidate should demonstrate and support a commitment and sensitivity to diversity, gender equity, and equal opportunity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Development

  • Develop a short-term plan for and long-term vision of Schreiner’s football program.
  • Establish goals, objectives, and expectations aligned with the University’s mission.
  • Launch an annual character development program for the team that promotes excellence, integrity, and leadership.
  • Develop a program that is highly competitive with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference of NCAA Division III.
