DSU is looking to hire a Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach/Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track Coach  and other duties as assigned. The Head Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Coach, Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track Coach is responsible for a highly competitive cross country program, assisting with a highly competitive men’s & women’s track program and assisting with the sport information department which compete in the Frontier Conference and NAIA.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to: knowing and abiding by all University, NAIA and Frontier Conference rules and regulations; coaching, recruiting, monitoring student-athletes academic progress, budgeting and scheduling, organization and implantation of practice and contest plans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, or Sport Administration or closely related

• College or high school cross country and/or track & field coaching and recruiting experience

• Background in kinesiology and exercise science training.

• Software skills in MS Office Suite, including MS Word and Excel, Photoshop V.CS4, Websync Dakstats, B2 Video Network, Hi-Tech Timing Systems, and athletic.net. And SidHelp Webpage Design.

• Excellent writing skills

• Detailed orientated, conscientious

• Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to work well with diverse populations

• Ability to Professional demeanor

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Master’s degree or higher in related field

• Supervisory experience

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Administer the Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Program 

  • Responsible for administering and overseeing all aspects of the cross country program.
  • Administer effective in-contest coaching and managing techniques.
  • Organization and implantation of practice plans and instruction.
  • Athlete development.
  • Contest day operations.
  • Scheduling of contest and practice.
  • Travel supervision.
  • Budget management.
  • Monitoring of student-athletes academic progress
  • Media Relations.
  • Recruitment and Retention of quality student-athletes.

• Assist Administering the Men’s & Women’s Track & Field Programs 

  • Assist in the administration of all aspects of the men’s & women’s track and field program.
  • Assist with the planning and instruction of all track meets and practice sessions.
  • Assist with administration and supervision of all home track meets
  • Responsible for the supervision and instruction of the distance runners
  • Responsible for athlete development
  • Recruitment and retention of track and field athletes. 

• Responsibility to serve as instructor to teach DSU courses and assist in fundraising for the DSU athletic department.

  • Teach multiple courses assigned by supervisor of School of Kinesiology at Dickinson State. 
  • Assist DSU Heritage Foundation in fundraising for athletic department. 
  • Be available for game day or fundraising functions through the foundation or athletic department. 

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

• Salary range of $45,000-50,000 contract, commensurate with qualifications and experience
