Job Summary
The Head Men’s Golf Coach reports to the Assistant Director of Athletics. The primary tasks are to organize, recruit and develop successful Men’s Golf in concert with the academic mission of the university. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under
FLSA
regulations.
Specific Responsibilities
Recruit quality student-athletes for the golf program
Develop and conduct organized practices
Develop a schedule that includes representative and competitive contests
Develop and maintain the sport budget
Counsel student-athletes in a positive manner
Coordinate fundraising opportunities for the golf program, if appropriate
Develop positive rapport with athletics staff, as well as SU community
Represent the university to various constituents in a professional manner
Contributes to the overall success of the Athletic Department and the University by performing other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Education
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience required.
Experience
2-3 years of previous coaching experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
The person in this position will display evidence of a positive attitude and the ability to get along well with others. They will have the necessary speaking and writing skills and the ability to be a well-organized self-starter. This person will have the knowledge and ability to use equipment specific to sport and the ability to set priorities and advocate team concepts; work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
Additional Requirements
This role is identified as one that includes significant interaction with students and/or campus activities, and/or has oversight for disciplinary procedures. Therefore, you are considered a Campus Security Authority (
CSA
) and required to report any Clery Act crime disclosed to you and remain compliant with annual
CSA
training requirements.
Physical Demand
Must have the energy, enthusiasm, and mobility to actively coach the sport. Must have the ability to partake in frequent walking, running, bending, stooping and lifting. Working conditions are both indoor and outdoor.
Contact with Others
Daily contact with students, staff and faculty.
Frequent contact with prospective students and parents.
Occasional contact with coaches from other colleges and with university administrative staff.
