Summary:
Head Men's Soccer Coach develops, manages, implements, and advances competitive intercollegiate men's soccer program within the philosophy, objectives, policies, and guidelines of NCAA Division II, the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), and Department of Athletics at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS). The Head Men's Soccer Coach reports to the Director of Athletics.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Teach and instruct advanced level skills, techniques, and game strategies inherent in the highest level of competitive play; develop UIS men’s soccer student-athletes to successful competitive achievements.
  • Recruit highly successful men’s soccer student-athletes who are both physically and academically talented, who represent UIS and Department of Athletics with good character, and who strive to graduate from UIS.
  • Responsible for scheduling, organizing, and conducting practices/competitions including team travel.
  • Responsible for administration and strategic vision for success of UIS men’s soccer program including budgeting, strategic planning, organizing, and reconciling soccer accounts to ensure expenditures compliant with budget.
  • Responsible for fundraising, marketing, promotion, and alumni and community engagement of UIS men’s soccer and Department of Athletics at UIS.
  • Identify, manage, mentor, and oversee ethical and talented UIS men’s soccer assistant coaching staff.
  • Collaborate with athletic training staff, academic support personnel, strength and conditioning, compliance staff, and other campus personnel to enhance and support UIS men’s soccer student-athlete experience.
  • Accountable for compliance with all NCAA Division II and Great Lakes Valley Conference rules; including submission of all compliance forms, adherence to all compliance policies and procedures, and attendance of mandatory NCAA rules education sessions.
  • Monitor academic performance and progress of men’s soccer student-athletes.
  • Coordinate camps/clinics in an effort to increase local and regional exposure of UIS and UIS soccer.
  • Attend GLVC, UIS, and Department of Athletics meetings as scheduled; hold office hours in the office in the Recreation and Athletic Center; complete required NCAA and UIS training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the department’s strategic goals and on-going initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years coaching
experience.

Preferences will be given to candidates with advanced degrees, a tenure of successful collegiate coaching experience with a proven record of recruiting talented and academically qualified student-athletes. The successful candidate must be committed to working and teaching within an environment that embraces the development of student-athletes around their academic achievement, diversity, equity, inclusion, health and welfare.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated ability in skill instruction, practice and game plan development, academic monitoring and development of student-athletes, fundraising and public relations
General administrative skills including budgeting and scheduling
Strong leadership skills
Knowledge and commitment to NCAA DII rules compliance
Strong ethical integrity
