Position Details
| General Statement |
The Head Men’s Tennis Coach reports directly to the Deputy Athletic Director for Internal Operations/CFO and is responsible for the organization and administration of all phases of the MSU Men’s Tennis Program and Bobcat Anderson Tennis Center. | Duties and Responsibilities |
- Manage the Division I Men’s Tennis Program and its student-athletes and staff, including all team operations.
- Organizing and coordinating team and individual student-athlete practices.
- Scheduling of Big Sky Conference and non-conference matches.
- Team travel operations, organization, planning and execution.
- Scouting and analyzing opponents, designing match plans and on-court coaching.
- Identify and coordinate the recruitment of prospective student-athletes.
- Oversee academic monitoring of student-athletes.
- Tennis Center management to include oversight of all tennis facility issues, fiscal operations, budgets, tennis programming, and performs other administrative duties as needed.
- Hiring, training, supervising and evaluating assistant coaches, tennis center staff, and pros.
- Manage Tennis Center membership and communicates with members concerning Tennis Center operations and special events.
- Coordinate, organize, and implement fundraising initiatives in support of the men’s tennis program.
- Adhering strictly to MSU, Big Sky Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
- All other duties as assigned by the Deputy Athletic Director for Internal Operations/CFO and/or Director of Athletics, in pursuit of the goal of developing a successful Men’s Tennis program.

| Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills |
1. Bachelor’s Degree.
2. USPTA or PTR Certification.
3. Collegiate coaching and/or playing experience.
4. Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete success including monitoring academic programs, nutrition, strength and conditioning program and student-athlete conduct.
5. Successful motivator and positive leader of student-athletes.
6. Administrative, financial and supervisory experience operating a tennis facility, including, but not limited to, such things as coordinating facility maintenance, hiring staff and pros, creating and managing membership programs.
7. Experience managing a budget.
8. Evidence of interacting positively with student-athletes, parents, colleagues, alumni, community members and other constituents, with a strong understanding of the importance of interaction with all levels of support groups and fundraising efforts.

| Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills |
1. Five years of collegiate coaching experience.
2. Tennis facility management experience.
3. Computer skills including court reservation and tournament data management systems, Microsoft Office Suite.
4. Experience as a tennis teaching professional.
5. Excellence in coaching ability, teaching leadership and camp management skills.
