Under the general direction of the Director of Athletics, the full-time Head Men’s Volleyball Coach will recruit and retain qualified student-athletes for the men’s volleyball program, instruct and develop student-athletes in volleyball and academics, prepare team for matches, fundraise and assist in community involvement.  Additionally, the Head Coach will also support the mission and goals of Hood College.

Essential Duties include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

Coaching, Recruiting, and Team Administration (85%)

  • Work with Director of Athletics on yearly recruiting goals for the program;
  • Provide instruction on related skill development and critique, rules, technologies and strategies;
  • Adjust gameday strategies in matches as needed;
  • Model and instruct student-athletes in departmental, College, Conference, and NCAA policies and procedures including Hood Honor Code, Alcohol Policy, Code of Conduct, Travel Policy, Conference bylaws and proceedings, and NCAA guidelines;
  • Organize and conduct practices during the traditional and non-traditional seasons;
  • Develop team travel and security plans in compliance with departmental and College guidelines for safety and other requirements;
  • Serve as the representative of the department and the College during team travel for in- and out-of-season competition. Supervise team during all travel, lead team during the event;
