The University of Jamestown seeks a head coach for the men’s wrestling team. The Jimmies currently compete in the NAIA as part of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. Starting in 2025-26, we will be part of NCAA Division II competing in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
Duties include:
Wrestler Development – provide coaching skills to individuals and team. Focus on improving skills, abilities, and performance.
Recruitment – recruit high quality students and athletes that align with the university’s mission and values.

Wrestler Development – provide coaching skills to individuals and team. Focus on improving skills, abilities, and performance.
Recruitment – recruit high quality students and athletes that align with the university’s mission and values.
Team Management – strategize team operations, practices, game planning, travel, scheduling, etc.
Game Strategy – adapting to opponents and situations. Make critical decisions during competition. Maximize the team’s chances of success.
Supervision – all assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and volunteer coaches will be under the supervision of the head coach.
Leadership – excellent work ethic and motivational skills. Assists in the athletic department, supports the Jimmie family, and takes part in Jimmie athletic successes.
Community Engagement – engage in fundraising, alumni relations, and promote the men’s wrestling program.
Communication – prominent level written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.
Fundraising – collaborate with the athletic department to raise money for the program.
Compliance – understand and abide by the rules and regulations of the NAIA and NCAA.
Academics – monitor and facilitate academic progress of student-athletes.
Sportsmanship – maintain sportsmanship in relations with staff, players, officials, opponents, and spectators.
Administrative duties – work within the rules set forth by athletic administration, operational procedures, student handbooks, and facility handbooks.
Student-athlete well-being – work closely with the athletic training staff and team physician regarding the well-being of student-athletes.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Coaching experience.
Experience recruiting student-athletes.
Valid Driver’s License
Demonstrate Successful leadership experience.
Preferred Requirements
Master’s degree
5+ years of collegiate coaching experience
Experience as a head coach
