JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country Coach will be responsible for planning and directing the recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of student-athletes. The successful candidate will also be responsible for fiscal management of the Cross-Country program to accomplish the objectives of this sport within the guidelines of the Greensboro College Athletic Department, the USA South Athletic Conference, and the NCAA.

This position will be part-time for the 2023-2024 academic year and will focus primarily on recruiting student-athletes for the fall of 2024. However, in lieu of no coaching responsibilities, the Cross-Country Coach will also assist Sports Information, primarily in game day support. An increased or expanded role at the College is possible if the enrollment goals of cross country are achieved.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Adheres to Greensboro College, USA South Athletic Conference and NCAA rules and regulations
• Recruits qualified student-athletes and consistently communicates recruiting strategies and roster numbers to the Athletic Director
• Organizes practice plans and schedules contests
• Provides instruction and development for individual and team improvement, teaching overall team and individual player strategies, analyzing athlete performances, and preparing student-athletes for challenging levels of competition
• Plans and implements team travel arrangements
• Creates a budget plan and regularly monitors expenditures, exercising responsible budget control
• Submits requested departmental forms in a timely manner
• Facilitates equipment and apparel purchases
• Develops fundraising strategies that will enhance the overall student-athlete experience
• Transports student-athletes to and from contests
• Coordinates and facilitates community outreach opportunities within the Greensboro community
• Fully participates in athletic department meetings and initiatives
• Attends athletic department and college events to provide support to other teams and groups
• Works in conjunction with the Sports Information Director to promote the sport of Cross Country with a presence on the Athletic Department website and via popular social media outlets
• Willingness to be an excellent colleague and steward to Greensboro College
• Exhibits the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

Qualifications

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s Degree preferred)
• Previous coaching/competition experiences at the collegiate level are preferred
• A proven record of integrity, establishing high principles and standards
• Demonstrated skills in developing and motivating student-athletes academically and athletically
• A valid driver's license is mandatory
• A background check will be required of the successful applicant
