Randolph-Macon College, a member of NCAA Division III and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Head Softball Coach. This is a full-time 12-month position and will have responsibilities for organizing and administering all aspects of the softball program.
Responsibilities:
Primary duties involve establishing game plans, evaluating player and staff needs, designing and implementing practice schedules and conditioning programs, supervising the work of assistant coaches, providing hands-on instruction to athletes, motivating athletes to perform to their full potential, making game decisions, conducting post-game evaluations, recruiting both players and staff, monitoring academic progress and eligibility of players, monitoring budget expenditures, constructing a competitive schedule, coordinating travel arrangements, developing strategies and working with Athletic Development staff on team related fundraising, and promoting good public relations through various college organizations and activities. Position involves substantial travel during recruiting periods. Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Qualifications: Successful candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, head coaching experience or significant assistant coaching experience at the collegiate level, and a valid driver’s license with satisfactory motor vehicle record by insurance standards. An understanding of the Division III philosophy of athletics and a commitment to academics are also essential.
