Title : Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

Description : Working in the primary capacity of an educator, the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach is a full-time 10-month position responsible for overseeing all strength and conditioning activities for each of Hartwick’s 21 NCAA DIII varsity programs. The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach designs, implements, and supervises injury-prevention and performance-enhancement programs for all student-athletes across the college’s varsity athletic teams. This role focuses on developing strength, speed, agility, power, endurance, and flexibility while collaborating closely with the sports medicine staff and head coaches to ensure the holistic health and peak performance of student-athletes. Instructs student-athletes on proper techniques while participating in workouts that seek to improve athletic performance, increase physical power and prevent injuries. Also, educate athletes on the impact of diet, sleep and rest on performance and teaches healthy habits and concepts over the lifespan.

Responsibilities : - Plan, develop, and implement an injury-prevention and performance-enhancement strength and condition program for all student-athletes across the College’s varsity athletic teams that prepares student-athletes for success across all strength and conditioning platforms - Provide instruction on developing strength, speed, agility, power, endurance, and flexibility while collaborating closely with the sports medicine staff and team head coaches to ensure the holistic health and peak performance of student-athletes - Educate student-athletes on the impact of diet, proper nutrition and supplementation, sleep and rest on performance, healthy habits and concepts over the lifespan - Instruct student-athletes on proper lifting techniques while participating in workouts that seek to improve athletic performance, increase physical power, and prevent injuries - Communicate effectively with staff athletic trainers, assist with rehabilitation and coordinate strength programs based on student-athlete injuries - Work closely with the Associate Athletic Director and administration to run the strength and conditioning program efficiently, allowing all programs to have their needs met - Responsible for coordinating and maintaining the Elting Fitness Center; assist in identifying and purchasing needed strength and conditioning equipment; assists in scheduling weight room training for the various athletic programs - Other relevant job-related duties as assigned - Comply with all Federal, State, local, NCAA, Empire 8 Conference, College Department, regulations, rules, policies and procedures - Be a positive member of the department by supporting other programs and find ways to be involved for the betterment of the department and College - Participate in significant campus activities including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend - As a college employee, this person is expected to comport themselves in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus. No inappropriate relationships with students
