Job Description Summary

Assist with the recruitment and coaching of student athletes for the purpose of assembling a competitive team and preparing players for success both on and off the court. Assist with organizing staff and directing the day-to-day operations of the program. Participate in community engagement and outreach activities to promote the sport and university program. Ensures compliance with NCAA, Conference and Institutional rules and regulations.
Athletics Strength & Conditioning works with athletic coaches and trainers to establish training goals for the University's athletic teams and student athletes. Provides physical and conditioning expertise through the development, implementation and evaluation of strength and conditioning programs to help teams function at their best performance levels.   Monitor and support student athlete well-being.

Job Description

The University of Akron, a NCAA Division 1 (FBS) institution and member of the Mid-American Conference is seeking applicants for the position of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Football.

Essential Functions:

Manage all phases of the strength and conditioning programs for Intercollegiate Athletics Department.  Make recommendations regarding safety of athletic conditioning and weight training programs and equipment.

Provide expertise, guidance, and training in the areas of strength training, physical conditioning, and nutritional education for student athletes. Counsel and motivate student athletes regarding conditioning and weight training programs.

Coordinate the strength and conditioning program by designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs, regularly testing the student athletes to determine the effectiveness of the programs and maintaining accurate records of student athlete's progress.

Collaborate with athletic medical staff, student athletes, coaches and administration regarding conditioning and weight training programs.
