Summary

The Coach provides leadership for all aspects of their sport’s program at KCU. The Coach will be a mature Christian leader committed to utilizing their program as a tool for advancing the University’s Christ-centered mission; developing student-athletes from academic, spiritual, and educational perspectives; and, establishing a culture of performance excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. The Coach will advance the University’s mission to educate students for Christian leadership and service in the church and professions throughout the world. An overarching passion for this mission must be demonstrated by the head coach and upheld as a standard within all of their sport’s operations of the University.
  2. The Coach, as a highly visible representative of the University, will represent the University in a Christ-honoring and professional manner, while also ensuring that others associated with the program do likewise.
  3. The Coach will actively serve as a Christian mentor to student athletes.
  4. The Coach shall monitor the academic progress of the student-athlete with the cooperation of faculty and academic administration.
  5. The Coach will serve as supervisor over all part-time coaching staff (as well as selection of assistant coaches), and support personnel.
  6. The Coach is responsible for the recruitment, training, and coaching of all student-athletes in the program.
  7. The Coach is responsible for generating additional funds to support their program (i.e., sponsorships, summer camps, donor solicitation, etc.).
  8. The Coach is responsible for scheduling and organizing travel for their team.
  9. The Coach is responsible for maintaining an environment in which student-athletes demonstrate retention and graduation rates at or above those of the overall University. Concurrently, the Coach must maintain player numbers that are agreed-upon during each budget cycle.
  10. The Coach is responsible for facilities care and maintenance.
  11. The Coach is responsible for overall program administration, including the development and exercise of an annual budget.
