SUMMARY
The Athletic Department within Washington Adventist University is hiring an experienced professional for the position of Head Volleyball Coach. The Head Volleyball Coach collaborates with multi-disciplinary team members that include but not limited to members from the Athletic Department, Communications Department, Student Life, Financial Aid, Student-Professionals, WAU Administration such as the University President and University Provost, the Association of Independent Institutions and the NAIA.
HEAD VOLLEYBALL COACH
This position requires someone who must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - Develops a competitive intercollegiate athletic program, consistent with the values and core pillars of WAU;
- Coaches and supervises Assistant Coaches and support staff;
- Ensures compliance with rules and regulations of all conference and national athletic affiliations;
- Responsible for all aspects of program recruiting within Washington Adventist University and NAIA guidelines;
- Manages the program’s budget within assigned funding levels;
- Monitors academic progress of team members;
- In depth knowledge of Volleyball
- Collaborates with the Sports Information Director to ensure profile information on all players is accurate and up-to-date, student-athletes are nominated for applicable awards, schedules are updated and accurate, and post-competition statistical reporting is complete;
- Communicates regularly with Athletic Training staff to ensure the health and well-being of student-athletes;
- Arranges travel plans and coordinates scheduling with the Director of Athletics;
- Ensures student-athlete’s compliance with WAU policies applicable to all students;
- Mentors and develops a positive and welcoming culture for student-athletes;
- Completes required NAIA Coaching Course (Champion of Characters)
- Mandatory presence at the beginning of the year Orientation & Athletics Banquet
- Related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or other administrators.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required. At least two to four years of volleyball coaching experience. Strong consideration will be given to applicants with demonstrated recruitment experience. This individual will be required to travel both regionally and nationally within the specified recruitment boundaries.
