| Position Summary |
The Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director and is responsible for supervising the women’s lacrosse team. The head coach of the women’s lacrosse program in its inaugural season, will play a vital role in establishing the program and setting a strong foundation for its future success. The head coach is responsible for leading and organizing all aspects of the program, including coaching, recruiting, hiring and overseeing assistant coaches, budget management, equipment requisition, and program development. The main objective will be to create a positive and competitive environment that amplifies the Total Gov Concept and fosters the growth and development of the student-athlete while promoting the values of sportsmanship and teamwork.
Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.

| Primary Duties and Responsibilities | Coaching and Player Development:
Develop and implement effective coaching strategies and techniques to enhance individual skills, team performance, and game strategies.
Conduct regular practices, training sessions, and individual player evaluations to improve player development.
Provide guidance, motivation, and mentorship to student-athletes to help them reach their full potential both on and off the field.
Create a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
Recruiting and Talent Identification:
Develop a comprehensive recruiting plan to identify and attract talented student-athletes who align with the program’s goals and values.
Attend tournaments, showcases, and high school games to evaluate potential recruits.
Build relationships with high school coaches, club coaches, and prospective student-athletes to foster a strong recruiting network.
Coordinate official and unofficial visits for recruits and their families, providing information about the program, campus, and academic opportunities.
Program Management:
Oversee team operations, including scheduling games, practices, and team events.
Collaborate with the athletic administration to ensure compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations.
Develop and manage the team budget, including travel expenses, equipment, and facilities.
Student-Athlete Academic Success:
Monitor student-athletes’ academic progress and support their academic success.
Collaborate with academic advisors and university resources to ensure student-athletes meet eligibility requirements.
Community Engagement:
Serve as a representative of the women’s lacrosse program and the university at various events and functions.
Promote the program within the campus community, local community, and the broader lacrosse community.
Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as a parents, donors, and community organizations to build support and create opportunities for the program.

Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports in a timely manner, particularly regarding athletic budget, eligibility, compliance, and travel documentation.
Ability to achieve certification to drive student-athletes to team athletic events.

| Physical Requirements |
- Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

| Required Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Prior coaching experience, preferably in women’s lacrosse, at the high school, college, or club level.
- Strong knowledge of the rules, strategies, and techniques of women’s lacrosse.
- A proven record of integrity, high principles and demonstrated skill in developing and motivating student-athletes academically and athletically.
- Valid driver license.
- A background check and official transcript will be required for the successful applicant.
