Position Overview
The Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Southwestern Assemblies of God University is responsible for the overall administration, team and player development, and academic integrity of the football program. The successful candidate will oversee an NAIA/NCCAA affiliated program in a Christ-centered environment intentional about recruiting, retaining, and developing individuals toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
Major Responsibilities:
· Understand the organizational culture, the role of athletics within the SAGU community, and a willingness to consistently perpetuate and display the mission of SAGU through actions and words with athletes, coaches, university personnel and general public.
· Embrace the responsibility of helping student-athletes assimilate into the SAGU community in the areas of academics, spiritual formation opportunities, and community standards.
· Recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes that fit the mission and scope of SAGU
· Develop and maintain a competitive intercollegiate program
· Limit program attrition and maintain stable roster through retention of student-athletes
· Achieve enrollment management goals defined by the institution
· Monitor and support student-athlete academic progress
· Ensure that institutional/NAIA/NCCAA/SAC rules and regulations are followed, with no major violations
· Manage program budget as identified prior to the start of each academic year
· Manage team fundraising activities
· Oversee and support team involvement in community service
· Supervise and evaluate assistant coaches in accordance with SAGU guidelines
· Manage related program administrative duties, including but not limited to: compliance, equipment inventory, practice/game scheduling and requirements of related support service areas (i.e. SID, LAT, facilities and game management)
· Possible teaching assignment in curricular area of expertise
· Other duties as assigned by athletic director or institution
Organizational Relationship
· Reports directly to, and is accountable to, the athletic director
· Oversight of women’s soccer team
Qualifications:
· Candidate must be an openly committed Christian, living a Spirit-filled life.
· Affirm the mission and distinctives of SAGU through lifestyle and program development.
· Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; priority given to Master’s degrees.
· Possess 8+ years soccer coaching experience, with collegiate and/or head coaching experience preferred.
· Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, computer proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
