POSITION TITLE: Head Women’s Soccer Coach

DEPARTMENT: Athletics

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

POSITION PURPOSE:

To be responsible for the overall management of the Women’s Soccer program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Direct, organize and administer all aspects of the Women’s Soccer program – 50% of time

Recruit, hire and supervise assistant coaches
Schedule competitions
Organize and administer practice and game plans and strategies
Manage program budget
Coordinate alumni relations and fundraising, as necessary
Oversee and direct all administrative functions of the program
Support student-athletes athletic and personal development
Perform other duties as assigned by Athletic Director
Attend meetings

Actively recruit qualified student athletes – 20% of time

Formulate and execute a recruiting plan that targets a diverse group of potential student-athletes that can achieve high levels of success academically, socially and athletically
Attend opportunities to evaluate potential student-athletes regularly
Maintain consistent effective, honest communication with potential student-athletes
Maintain contact with high school coaches, club coaches and parents

Serve as the liaison to the Student Athlete Advisory Board– 10% of time

Coordinate all aspects of the Student Athlete Advisory Board

Teach four activity classes – 20% of time

Coordinate all aspects of teaching four activity classes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree; maintain a valid driver’s license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record

Experience: 3+ years of Soccer coaching experience at either a professional, college/university, club or high school level; advanced knowledge of Soccer

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education : Master’s Degree

Experience : Professional or college level Soccer coaching experience; head coaching experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
Ability to be a motivated self-starter
Ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student athletes and parents
Ability to work successfully independently and as a member of a team
Ability to establish program goals and objectives that support a strategic plan
Ability to multi-task effectively
Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
Skill in computer applications including word processing and spreadsheets
Ability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends
Knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and MIAC regulations
Ability and willingness to support, respect and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community including faculty, staff, students and constituents

WORK SCHEDULE:

FTE:1.0

Term: Year-round

Shift:Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.; regular evening and weekend hours required (i.e. games/practice/recruiting activities); travel up to 15% of work schedule, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area) and national travel; overnight trips average 7 trips per year
