Head Wrestling Coach

Reading, PA Campus, 1621 N 13th St, Reading, Pennsylvania, United States of America Req #983

Tuesday, November 26, 2024

Albright College, a vibrant and growing institution, is seeking a dynamic and visionary Head Coach to lead the start-up of its Men’s Wrestling program (option of full-time or part-time). This is an exciting opportunity to build a program from the ground up, creating a foundation that will grow into a competitive force within NCAA Division III athletics. The Men’s Wrestling Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of the program, including recruiting student-athletes, creating training plans, and overseeing day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will work creatively within the constraints of existing athletic facilities while helping to explore the possibility of a dedicated wrestling space for both men's and women's wrestling programs in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Establish and develop the Men’s Wrestling program at Albright College. Build a competitive team that can eventually meet NCAA Division III standards in terms of performance and sportsmanship.
  • Recruitment: Identify and recruit talented student-athletes to the Men’s Wrestling program. Develop and execute a strategic recruiting plan to attract high-caliber athletes to Albright College.
  • Training and Coaching: Design and implement effective training programs that emphasize technique, conditioning, and character development. Provide hands-on coaching during practice, competitions, and other team events.
  • Team Building: Cultivate a positive and inclusive team culture that fosters student-athlete development both on and off the mat. Encourage leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship.
  • Facility Management: Work with existing facilities and creatively adapt current resources to support the program’s needs while exploring options for future dedicated wrestling spaces for both men’s and women’s programs.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with NCAA Division III standards, as well as institutional policies and regulations related to student-athlete eligibility, recruitment, and scholarships.
  • Program Administration: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the wrestling program, including budget management, scheduling, assistant coach professional development and coordination with athletic department staff and administration.
