Job Description:
Christian Brothers University invites applications for the position of Head Wrestling Coach. This individual will provide leadership for all aspects of the Universities wrestling program, including program development, recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes, coaching,scheduling, fiscal management, fundraising, and NCAA compliance. The Head Coach will create a culture that supports academic success, competitive excellence, sportsmanship, and the mission and values of Christian Brothers University.
Coaching and Program Development
Build and implement a comprehensive plan for developing a competitive NCAA wrestling program.
Design and conduct daily practices, individual training sessions, and seasonal training plans.
Prepare student-athletes for dual meets, tournaments, and postseason competition through technical instruction, match strategy, and performance analysis.
Establish team standards that promote accountability, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Evaluate team and individual performance and implement plans for continuous improvement.
Recruitment and Enrollment
Identify and recruit prospective student-athletes capable of succeeding academically and athletically.
Build and maintain recruiting relationships with high school, club, and junior college coaches throughout regional and national recruiting territories.
Coordinate recruiting communications, campus visits, and evaluations.
Partner with Admissions to support institutional enrollment goals.
Student-Athlete Success
Foster an environment that prioritizes academic achievement and personal development.
Monitor academic progress and encourage student-athletes to utilize campus support resources.
Promote leadership development, community engagement, and responsible citizenship.
Support the health, safety, and well-being of all student-athletes.
Administration
Develop the annual competition schedule in collaboration with the Athletics Department.
Manage the programs operating budget responsibly.
Coordinate team travel, equipment purchases, uniforms, and facility needs.
Maintain program records and complete required departmental reports.
Compliance and University Engagement
Ensure compliance with NCAA Division II, conference, and university rules and policies.
Complete all required compliance education and documentation.
Represent the University in a professional manner with alumni, donors, officials, campus constituents, and the community.
Participate in departmental meetings and assist with Athletics Department initiatives as assigned.
Program Advancement
Organize camps and clinics that promote the wrestling program and support community engagement.
Assist with fundraising efforts and alumni outreach.
Work collaboratively with Athletic Communications to increase the visibility of the wrestling program through media, social media, and promotional events.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and three (3) years of wrestling coaching experience or equivalent competitive experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain qualified student-athletes.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and a commitment to compliance.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel extensively.
Preferred experience:
Previous collegiate wrestling coaching experience or equivalent competitive experience.
Previous recruitment and player development experience.
