Intercollegiate Athletics Equipment Specialist

Job Summary

Assist with all activities related to purchasing, storing, issuing, fitting and repairing of athletic equipment, clothing uniforms for all University sports teams. Assist in managing all related facility operations for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Job Description

1. Responsible for issuing, receiving, and fitting of athletic equipment and apparel used across all intercollegiate athletic programs.
   
2. Assist as Athletic Department liaison to university facilities management.
   
3. Enforces university facility policies and procedures.
   
4. Coordinate CSU work-order process for all athletic department needs.
   
5. Provides laundry services for all intercollegiate teams, including distribution and collection of practice and game uniforms.
   
6. Assesses annual needs for activities and laundry; support budget requests and assists with equipment and apparel needs.
   
7. Collaborates with head coaches and athletic administration, to purchase equipment, including clothing and uniforms, through service and purchasing contracts with approved CSU vendors.
   
8. Facilitates practice and game uniform purchases to ensure compliance with CSU branding requirements.
   
9. Keeps up with comprehensive system for inventory management of equipment and apparel to include checkout and check-in procedures, daily logs, identification and control of all athletic equipment.
   
10. Manages laundry operations for cleaning of practice and competition uniforms.
    
11. Maintains laundry room equipment.
    
12. Assists with game operations duties as appropriate.
    
13. Oversees/Manages Student Managers
    
14. Assist with facility projects
    

Minimum Qualifications

Must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Three (3) years (36 months) of experience in the repair and maintenance of athletic equipment and uniforms at the high school or college level.
3. Possession of a valid State of Illinois driver’s license, the class of the license depending on the type of the vehicle(s) to be operated.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Sports management, or a field related to the position.
- Athletic Equipment Managers Association Certification (Or working towards)
-Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in an area of specialization inherent to the position may be required. Athletic Equipment management experience with relevant work experience of up until 1 year or better

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing varsity athletic equipment and uniforms.
  
• CPR, First Aid Certification is required (and can be completed after hire.)
  
• Proficiency in using technology including Microsoft Word, Excel and Teamworks Inventory system.
  
• Highly organized with strong time management skills.
  
• Strong collaborative skills with a team-oriented approach.
  
• Demonstrated dedication to continuous personal and professional development.
  
• Detailed knowledge of the management of equipment operations and related software.
  
• Knowledge of general standards and safety regulations for athletic equipment.
  
• Knowledge of commercial/institutional laundry operations, equipment capabilities, and maintenance requirements
  
• Knowledge of current laundry industry techniques, processes, and supplies.
  
• Knowledge of cleaning agents.
  
• Ability to move heavy travel cases, bags, and additional equipment.
  
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with the University’s vehicle use policy.

Physical Requirement/ Demands

Employee must be able to lift and move 50 pounds.

Employee must be able to stand for long periods of time (ie: entire length of athletic event).
