| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

A SIGN-ON BONUS OF $4,081 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID IN 2 INSTALLMENTS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE:
$2,040.50 WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE DATE & $2,040.50 12 MONTHS AFTER HIRE DATE.
The Kenan Stadium Facility Maintenance Technician has responsibility to manage daily building operations, perform maintenance activities necessary in the Facility, and serve as facility and staffing liaison for special events. Building operations include, but are not limited to serving as advance and practice day visiting team liaison; facility preparations and set-up for practices, special events and intercollegiate contests; primary contact for maintenance issues.
Responsible for working with Kenan Stadium and Loudermilk Center for Excellence Facility Managers to ensure efficient and comprehensive communication with units within the Athletic Department (e.g., Event Management, Marketing and Athletic Communications, IT, Business Office, ASPSA), other University departments (e.g., Student Union, University Events, and Department of Public Safety, Transportation and Parking), and visiting Directors of Operations. Provide accurate and detailed information to assist in facilitating a smooth and professional operation and keeping track of maintenance projects and work order records. Individual must be knowledgeable of policies and procedures related to risk management and security and a willingness to work within a team model. Coordinate the maintenance protocols established by management to negate or mitigate any hazard that stadium users may encounter due to unusual security and emergency situations.

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
A valid NC Driver’s License is required. Knowledge and familiarity with small/large tools. Ability to do electrical related tasks such as: change ballasts and install conduit. Ability to perform plumbing tasks such as: replace flush valves, replace water fountains, and repair clogged drains. Ability to perform carpentry tasks such as: building shelves. Ability to perform painting tasks such as: painting trim, doors, and cabinets. Maintain roof systems and diagnose potential or occurring leaks. Effective Communication skills, both oral and written. Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to trouble shoot issues and exercise effective decision-making skills.

| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Demonstrated skills and knowledge necessary to facilitate the business processes and functions within Athletic Facilities. Prefer familiarity and/or working knowledge of the University, ACC and NCAA guidelines and the ability to foster cooperative, working relationships.
