The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. It is the steadfast goal of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to provide the most outstanding student-athlete experience by helping them to achieve excellence, both in the classroom and in their chosen sport. The department has approximately 280 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.
The Laborer 1 position works as part of a team, performing various general, routine labor tasks, at all Athletic Department facilities. Work tasks are performed inside and outside the facilities on the grounds/fields, parking lots, and spectator seating areas.
This position will work a schedule that is generally Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM but is identified as a flex position to meet the needs of the Athletic Department. This position is part of the Essential Services group counted on to respond during emergencies or unusual circumstances. This position works closely with other staff members, facility occupants, users, and visitors to complete tasks under the direction of the Operations Supervisor.
Special Requirement:
• A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain UO Driver's Certification to drive University vehicles.
• One year experience with general routine labor in an organization work unit doing similar work
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
• Ability to operate department equipment and tools safely.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting and interacting with a diverse population.
• Ability to multi-task and respond to immediate needs while managing day-to-day activities.
• Experience working in a large complex.
• One year of general maintenance performing semi-skilled maintenance tasks or other related experience.
