Position Summary:
Judson University is seeking a committed and driven Lead Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach to join our Christ-centered athletic department in a part-time capacity. This individual will serve as the Lead Varsity Assistant Coach while also acting as the Head Coach of the Men’s JV Team. Primary responsibilities include recruiting, player development, coaching support, and operational duties that ensure the program’s success on and off the court.
This role is ideal for someone pursuing a career in college coaching who thrives in a mission-driven environment and is passionate about mentoring student-athletes through basketball and faith.

Key Responsibilities:

Varsity Program – Coaching & Development
• Assist the Head Coach in practices, games, and strategic planning
• Lead player development through skill workouts and off-season training
• Help scout opponents and contribute to game planning and adjustments
• Serve as a mentor to student-athletes, supporting their academic, personal, and spiritual growth

Key Responsibilities:

Varsity Program – Coaching & Development
• Assist the Head Coach in practices, games, and strategic planning
• Lead player development through skill workouts and off-season training
• Help scout opponents and contribute to game planning and adjustments
• Serve as a mentor to student-athletes, supporting their academic, personal, and spiritual growth

JV Head Coaching
• Lead all aspects of the Judson Men’s JV team, including practices, game planning, scheduling, and travel
• Develop and prepare JV athletes for potential varsity roles
• Build a competitive and development-focused JV culture

Recruiting Coordination
• Lead the program’s recruiting efforts at the NAIA level
• Evaluate talent and manage a recruiting database
• Establish and maintain relationships with high school and AAU coaches
• Coordinate recruit visits and assist with Admissions collaboration

Program Operations
• Assist with film breakdown and scouting via Hudl and Synergy
• Help coordinate team travel, lodging, and meals
• Oversee equipment and manage practice setup
• Drive university vehicles for team travel (valid driver’s license required)

Administrative Support & Team Culture
• Monitor academic progress and study hall
• Support team communication, calendars, and logistics
• Assist with fundraising events, youth camps, and alumni outreach
• Help uphold and reinforce a Christ-centered team identity and culture of excellence

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• College coaching or competitive playing experience preferred
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
• Proven ability to recruit and build relationships within the basketball community
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate university vehicles
• Passion for Christian mentorship and holistic development of student-athletes
• Familiarity with Hudl, Synergy, and Google Suite preferred
