Lead Asst. Women's Water Polo Coach

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The lead assistant women’s water polo coach is the primary assistant to the head women’s water polo coach. The lead assistant coach will assist with all aspects of the NCAA Division II Women’s Water Polo Program, including student recruitment and development, on-deck coaching, contest scheduling, compliance with NCAA, Conference, and Biola University rules and regulations, student-athlete academic achievement, and other duties assigned by the head coach.

  • Assist in organizing and coaching for all practices and intercollegiate competitions. Teach necessary skills from the basic fundamentals to the techniques and strategies of team play.

  • Assist head coach with game preparation and in-game strategies.

  • Promote and foster a positive team environment, appropriate behavior, and sportsmanship by team members. Responsible for the conduct of team members both on and off the deck.

  • Promote and maintain an environment where the physical, mental, spiritual, social, and academic well-being of all student-athletes is a priority.

  • Recruiting:

  • Assist with overseeing the academic progress and success of student-athletes including promoting and maintaining an environment that encourages academic achievement as measured by academic eligibility, retention, and graduation.

  • Assist the Head Coach in scheduling of contests and opponents, and makes arrangements for the contests as assigned by the Head Coach.

  • Work with the coaching staff and athletic admin to plan and administer team travel arrangements, including transportation, meals, and lodging.

  • Assists the head coach in scouting opponents, including exchanging and analyzing videos.

  • Actively participates in fundraising, promotional, and public relations activities for the sports program.

  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with administrators and coaches in the department, institutional staff members, and external constituents.

  • Maintain confidentiality, including, but not limited to, information, files, and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess under federal and state laws and Biola University policies and practices.
