| Position Summary |
Provide academic support for academically at-risk student-athletes on an individualized basis with an emphasis on academic skill development. Learning Specialists function to ensure assigned students understand assignments in their courses, help them to develop an organizational system that will facilitate success in their courses, assist students in areas where there are some cognitive deficiencies, and help coordinate with assigned counselors, assistant learning specialists, tutors, and mentors to make sure they are receiving proper academic assistance. After each appointment, Learning Specialists will log a report detailing what took place during each session to ensure compliance with UGA, UGAAA, SEC, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Assist with the oversight of the tutorial program. Conduct new tutor training, observations, continued training, as well as create and distribute weekly informational emails to part-time staff. Handle disciplinary measures for part-time staff, if needed. This position includes Bi-weekly evening and occasional weekend work.
