This position reports to the Athletic Director and the Dean, School of Arts and Science.
The primary duty of a Lecturer/Head Women's Softball Coach is primary responsible for coordinating all aspects of Lecturer preferably in Physical Education Field, SGSC's softball program and adhering to all NJCAA rules for the sport. The Head Coach should foster student personal growth and development as well as academic and athletic achievement. The Head Coach is viewed as a mentor and advocate of equity within the athletic department. The position requires flexible work hours including occasional nights and weekends, as needed. These skills are required while supporting the mission and vision of South Georgia State College.
Intercollegiate Softball Program -
Develop structure and continue to enhance our nationally competitive intercollegiate softball program, striving for team athletic and academic excellence
Camp/Clinic Programs -
Develop and promote camp/clinic programs designed for youth skill enhancement.
Governing Collegiate Regulations -
Adhere to all NJCAA/GCAA rules and regulations governing collegiate athletics and the sport of softball.
Schedules -
Reports to work as scheduled by immediate supervisor.
Create practice schedules for the program and submit to Athletic Director.
Performs other Duties -
Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Recruitment and Retention -
Recruitment and retention of student-athletes annually for SGSC for women¿s softball.
Supervision -
Supervise and direct assistant softball personnel.
Monitor Student Academic Progress -
Collaborate with the college faculty to monitor academic progress of student athletes to ensure that athletic eligibility and academic standards are maintained.
Code of Conduct -
Provide leadership to ensure that athletes conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with college and the code of conduct.
Fundraising Events _ Softball Program -
Ability to Fundraise for Softball Program
Budget and Travel Administration -
Submit travel plans and budget requests for all recruitment and athletic competition activities to the Director of Athletics.
Oversee team budgets and operate teams within budget limits.
Arrange lodging accommodations for away competitions.
NJCAA Sports Information -
Report game statistics to the NJCAA Sports Information Webpage.
Educational Requirements
Master's Degree in Physical Education or related field of study.
Other Required Qualifications
Excellent Public Relations Skills.
Required Experience
3+ years of coaching experience.
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Doctoral Degree in Physical Education or related field of study.
Preferred Experience
College Head Coaching Experience.
Commensurate with experiences.
