Major Gift Officer Athletics Administration - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25000251)
The incumbent will serve as a member of the front-line fundraising team with a primary focus on developing and strengthening donor relationships to identify, cultivate, steward, and solicit contributions. Additionally, the position will provide financial reporting, prospect management, and operational support by conducting research, preparing bios, maintaining detailed files and data, and preparing reports. Participates in development events and meetings to promote the Department of Athletics.
Job Summary Develops and builds partnerships that strengthen existing donor relationships and identifies, cultivates, stewards, and solicits contributions. Develops and facilitates stewardship evaluations and determines corresponding University and prospective interests. Assists in the development of policies and prepares reports for presentation to management.
Essential Functions Develops and maintains liaison with appropriate staff and executives to strengthen existing donor relationships. Identifies, cultivates, stewards, and solicits contributions through personal calls and visits. Develops, implements, and evaluates plans for solicitation and stewardship strategies and the evaluation, cultivation, and solicitation of major gift prospects. Matches University strengths and interests with prospective interests. Collates and interprets available research data pertinent to the development of relationships with potential donors. Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and systems. Prepares and presents reports for management and University officials. Participates in reaching departmental goals. Serve as liaison to internal departments within Department of Athletics and Philanthropic and Alumni Engagement. Attends relevant events and meetings to promote the Department of Athletics. Conducts research to provide leads and insight on prospective donors. Prepare and report athletics development officer productivity and prospect activity, as well as manage future pipeline, year-to-date fundraising progress, special project fundraising progress, and reporting on pledge activities. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and produce high quality work product. Skilled in word processing, Excel, reporting, email, and database software programs. Experience in creating reports and using ticketing and advancement databases is required [for example, Advance, PacFUND, Affinaquest, Millennium, Raiser's Edge, Sales Force, etc.] A desire to pursue a career in higher education development and/or athletics administration.
Physical Effort Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. May need to lift equipment, mail, or supplies up to 50 pounds.
