Plymouth State University seeks a dynamic, motivated, and student-centered individual to serve as the Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Coach. This part-time position is responsible for leading all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III swimming and diving program, with a strong emphasis on student-athlete development, academic success, and sportsmanship.
Duties/Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and direct all phases of the men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs
Develop and implement effective training programs, practice plans, and competition strategies
Recruit, evaluate, and retain qualified student-athletes who align with the university’s academic and athletic standards
Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and personal growth
Monitor academic progress and support student-athlete success in the classroom
Manage program budgets and equipment
Ensure compliance with NCAA Division III, conference, and university rules and regulations
Coordinate team travel, meet logistics, and administrative duties
Supervise and mentor assistant coaches and support staff
Engage in community outreach and alumni relations to support program growth

Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree
Previous collegiate coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA level
Strong knowledge of swimming and diving techniques, training methods, and competition rules
Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop student-athletes
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Commitment to the philosophy and mission of NCAA Division III athletics, emphasizing the balance of academics and athletics
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience coaching both swimming and diving or working collaboratively with a diving coach
Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain)
Experience with program management, budgeting, and compliance
