Job Summary:

The Operations Manager/Assistant Men's & Women's Track Coach will support the Head Coach and Associate Head Coach with program operations, as well as coaching, recruitment, and retention of student athletes for a NCAA Division I Track and Field/Cross Country program within the rules and regulations of Drake University, the NCAA and the Missouri Valley Conference.

This is a part-time (31 hours per week or fewer) 10-month position (September through June).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Baccalaureate Degree
• Collegiate racing and/or coaching experience
• Valid state issued driver’s license
• CPR and First Aid certification (can certify upon start)
• Knowledge of Track and Field operations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years of track and field coaching experience
• Applicable USTFCCCA/USATF coaches’ education certificate(s)
• Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and student-athletes with a range of backgrounds, interests and perspectives.

Job Duties:

25% - Lead operations for team activities and travel as well as competition; while ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and compliance standards are maintained. - (Essential)

20% - Manage social media accounts and help with promotion of Drake Track and Field. - (Essential)

10% - Write and distribute monthly Track and Field Newsletter. - (Essential)

10% - Perform coaching duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Associate Head Coach. - (Essential)

10% - Communicate effectively with entire track and field and cross country teams. - (Essential)

10% - Recruit student athletes, especially with on campus visits. - (Essential)

5% - Attend weekly staff meetings and implement resulting strategies. - (Essential)

5% - Work diligently with the coaching and athletic training staff to facilitate the well-being of all student-athletes - (Essential)

5% - Represent the sports program to various institutional programs, as well as externally to the media, funding agencies, students, parents, faculty, and the general public. Perform other duties, as assigned. - (Essential)
