Compensation: $54,993.51 to $62,492.62 Annually

POSITION SUMMARY
This position will oversee the men’s basketball team and is responsible for instruction, coordination,
recruitment, and development of the team. The position also entails supervising any individuals assisting with
the men’s basketball program in a subordinate role. The role includes monitoring all student-athletes in regard
to NAIA and CCC eligibility and working with student-athlete academic advisors to track academic progress.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Formulate a successful philosophy to promote the educational welfare, sportsmanship, and
spiritual development of the men’s basketball student-athletes.
• Manage and supervise all activities of the men’s basketball team, including planning practices,
strength training, open gyms, and all other basketball-related activities.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all NAIA rules and regulations, Cascade Collegiate
Conference obligations, and rules of the game (including changes), and ensure all required
duties based on those rules are fulfilled.
• Recruit and vet all players joining the team.
• Collaborate with the athletic department on fundraising opportunities.
• Create a spiritual development and leadership plan for men’s basketball student-athletes.
• Organize community outreach programs for the men’s basketball team to participate in.
• Manage the budget for the men’s basketball program.
• Track all players’ academic success, NAIA eligibility, and progress toward a degree.
• Review student-athletes’ academic progress reports and end-of-term grades to determine
motivational needs, foster academic success, and maintain athletic qualification.
• Develop policies and protocols for the student-athlete eligibility process in coordination with
WWU’s Faculty Athletic Representative, NAIA, and CCC.
Serve as the point of contact for universities requesting the release of WWU student-athletes.

• Act as a liaison with student-athletes’ Academic Advisors to ensure student-athletes are
succeeding in class scheduling.
• Review and monitor daily academic progress reports.

• Oversee admissions and initial/transfer eligibility for prospective student-athletes and
continuing eligibility for returning student-athletes.
• Assess the admissibility of prospective student-athletes.

Supervision Received: Employee receives general instructions regarding scope of and approach to projects
or assignments, but procedures and techniques are left to the discretion of the employee. Employees are
expected to operate with a reasonable degree of independence.
Supervision Given: Yes, student workers, assistant coaches, and volunteer coaches.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Education: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree in Athletic Administration preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: AED First Aid and CPR
• Experience/Skills
• Years of experience: 5-10 years, 1-+ years preferred.

ADDITIONAL JOB-SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access), familiarity with NAIA rules
and regulations. Preferred: Recruiting knowledge, familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM),
strength and conditioning training background.
WORK CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
Job Conditions:
• Frequent: Travel, working more than 40 hours/week, weekend work, computer use, fast-paced work
and speaking, reading, and understanding English.
• Occasional: On-call/after-hours work, unscheduled interruptions and driving/operating machinery
or vehicles.
Lifting/Moving:
• Frequent: Pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying 50-100 pounds.
Physical:
Frequent: Stopping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling, walking and/or running, moving from one location
to another, standing, reaching, handling, and/or feeling (i.e. computer use, etc.), talking and/or hearing, and
seeing/vision.
Occasional: Climbing or balancing and using feet/legs to control equipment.
Environment:
• Frequent: Indoor, cold/heat and noise/vibrations
• Occasional: outdoor wet/dry conditions.
Equipment: General weight room equipment, sports specific training aids, indoor/outdoor training
equipment, computer, phone, printer, and team equipment.
