The position will work with the Director of Sports Nutrition.- Sport oversight for assigned teams, including menu planning, team talks, body composition testing, practice attendance, supplement reviews, etc.- Provide nutrition counseling and educational services to student athletes- Develop effective sport-specific nutrition education presentations and handout materials- Maintain ongoing communications with coaching staffs, strength & conditioning staff, athletic trainers, and administration regarding nutritional issues affecting student athletes.- Supervise and train student volunteers and dietetic interns- Work effectively with a culturally diverse community and advance the department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion- Perform duties with professional conduct, confidentiality, fiscal responsibility and a commitment to student-athlete well-being- Abide by all written policies, procedures and guidelines of East Carolina University, the Department of Athletics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA ), and all applicable conferences or associations- Build quality relationships and work collaboratively and professionally with athletics, Pirate Club and University staff, students, and all constituencies and stakeholders.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in foods and nutrition dietetics or public health nutrition; or completion of an ADA Dietetic internship with ADA Commission; Dietetic Registration eligibility preferred. Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Experience presenting information and respond to questions from groups of students, staff, and the general public.
