Job Description

The Nutritionist/Registered Dietitian advances student well-being through individualized nutritional care, campus education, and community collaboration to students at Washington and Lee University. This position focuses on cultivating a healthy relationship with food, fostering body respect, and promoting sustainable, inclusive approaches to nutrition and wellness.

This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, exempt, 11-month position available during the academic year. This position reports to the Director of Lindley Health and closely collaborates with Lindley Counseling, Dining Services, Athletics, and Health Promotion in contributing to campus-wide initiatives that support a culture of health, belonging, and balance.

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts individualized assessments and develops nutrition care plans addressing a wide scope of conditions that may include chronic health conditions (e.g. Celiac Disease, Diabetes, etc.), food allergies/intolerances, obesity, eating disorders, athletic conditioning and performance needs, etc. 

  • Assists students in an interdisciplinary approach to evaluate, treat and support disordered eating or body image concerns through evidence-based, compassionate, and collaborative care with Lindley Counseling and Lindley Health as appropriate.

  • Maintains confidential, timely, and accurate documentation in the electronic health record.

  • Collaborates with Dining Services to review menus, address food allergies and special dietary needs, and promote balanced and inclusive dining options as needed.

  • Partners with Athletics Departments (coaches, athletic trainers, teams and/or individual student athletes) on developing nutritional goals, meal plans and strategies for health and performance for student-athletes.

  • Designs and/or collaborates with campus partners to provide campus-wide wellness campaigns/events or integrated programming that supports holistic wellbeing.

  • Serves as a nutrition resource to faculty, staff, and students, offering guidance on nutrition-related questions, policies, and initiatives.
